You’re a romantic at heart, but you’ve a modern day spirit. You appreciate the nice things in life; a touch of glamour, a dash of aspiration, but at the heart of it must be good solid function and practical design. So, no wooden chocolate box chalet for you, but no uncomfortable showpiece either. You want a good solid piece of real estate, close to the slopes and with contemporary, warm style to boot. Not much then.

Le Marti brings plenty to the party. Drawing up outside her white washed walls blend seamlessly into the snow-covered mountaintops of the Chamonix valley. The converted schoolhouse retains plenty of character, but the interiors are refreshingly new and oh so clean. The floor to ceiling print of a magnificent stag gazes at you inquisitively from the sitting room, assessing his latest guests with a knowing look.

A champagne welcome before the open log fire gives you room to properly take in your surroundings. The ambiance is calm and soothing, with a comforting colour palate in warm greys and dark brown wooden window frames. There is something of Tibet in these, and in the beige rattan carpets, and this theme continues with subtle Buddha ornaments in many of the bedrooms. Cow hide rugs and stools bring you right back to your Alpine surroundings.

You are in the heart of the charming village of Argentière, walking distance from the ski lifts, which access the highest skiing in the valley at Grand Montets, and yet the village has an authentic French feel to it, not overrun with the trappings of foreign tourism. The Chamonix valley is all about the big mountain skiing, and the vibe is of the outdoors.

Le Marti reflects this, with a wonderful out-door terrace and hot tub letting you soak in the fresh mountain air, warmed by the hot water and the braziers with logs aflame lighting the terrace with shadows flickering and dancing all around you. This is the perfect venue to tell tales of the day’s adventures over a glass of wine or two, the sounds of laughter echoing across the mountainside.

Inside the Tibetan influence is evident again in the relax corner next to the sauna, lit by romantic candle lanterns. This is the spot for a massage to sooth those aching ski legs, an indulgent space just for you.

Do you love food? I don't know many people that don't - there is something wonderfully comforting and indulgent about having somebody else take control of the kitchen. But when that person is a talented chef with hands-on experience of high end restaurants, you know you’re in for a mouth-watering treat. We hand-pick our chalet partners for their beautiful properties, stand out service and their dedication to gastronomy. Here’s a taste of what you can expect when staying in one of our catered ski chalets:

A perfect start to the day

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? On the chef's day-off you will be served a continental breakfast of wonderful French bread and pastries. So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.

High tea temptations

Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet to find afternoon tea laid out ready for you. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.

Serving up a sensuous feast

Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a melt in your mouth three course dinner that wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Dinner is complimented by a tangy platter of divine local cheeses. You will enjoy carefully selected house wines with dinner which the chef has paired to his dishes although you can choose to upgrade the wines from the chalet's a la carte list. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your chef will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to fine dining delights. Dinner is served on six nights, leaving you one night free to enjoy the local restaurants.

The chalet provides a stocked bar with a range of spirits, beer and soft drinks. Champagne is served with canapés on your arrival night.

Children & dietary requirements

The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children. You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
