Swimming With The Stars

Picture yourself floating in the warm comforting waters of the pool, last rays of sunlight beaming down upon you through the dramatic sky light windows. At peace in your own little world, and yet just down the winding mountain road, not 200 meters away is the Médran lift station, life blood to the network of lifts stretching out from Verbier across the world class 4 Valleys ski resort. 

You wonder how a chalet in such a premium central location can be this tranquil? At the same time you think you must try a night-time swim, bet the night sky is dazzling through those windows.   

Very few people get to enjoy the luxury of so much space and privacy in such proximity to the heart of Verbier, which is just a short walk away from you at Sorojasa. Well, there’s your near neighbour Mr Branson and guests of his Lodge, but we’re not counting them.

It’s a special chalet, and quite an experience to arrive in resort, driven through the Place Centrale, past the Médran lift station and the flashy new Hotel W, on past the Lodge and on the fringe of the pine forest, to find your own chalet perched on the edge of the south-facing plateau. Jaw dropping views of the Val de Bagnes and the Mont Blanc massif await you, as does a perfectly chilled glass of Perrier Jouët champagne.

The service at Sorojasa will more than live up to the glory of its position; professional and friendly chalet staff will take care of your every need leaving you free to relax, unwind and soak in those views. First, admire them from the top floor with its oh-so-grown-up and stylish living room. Open plan to the dining room and kitchen this is where you kick back in front of the roaring log fire with a seriously good holiday read, a glass of pinot and ‘those views’ from the vast picture windows. You’re also first in line for tasty treats from the kitchen and a sneak preview as chef prepares that evening’s dinner.

While you’re enjoying some peace and quiet upstairs, 4 floors down the rest of the family are just about to jump into the swimming pool for their first swim of many. What more could you want for? Cinema perhaps? It’s just next to the pool, and comes with its own bar. Perfect for family movie nights, or a cool hangout for the kids so your retreat on the top floor stays being exactly that! Worried about having to trek down four floors of stairs to check they’re not having ‘too much’ fun? Not a problem, there’s a handy lift accessing all of the floors.

The outstanding service does not stop outside of your chalet; your chauffeur service will drop you or pick you up in resort any time of the day or night. An essential service to guarantee you fast access to the slopes & back (if you prefer not to ski back down the charming tree path which leads all the way to the chalet). Also perfect when the older teens fancy a night out at the Farinet, and best of all you get a break from being the sober parent on taxi duties. To celebrate, the chalet host pours you another glass of your favourite wine.

For the foodies among you your skillful and experienced chef is there to create a bespoke dining experience for your group; the evening kicks off with canapés by the fire, and moves on to a 3 course dinner at the long oak dining table positioned perfectly opposite ‘the view’. Make the most of having your own private chef; they can tailor the food to suit so you can enjoy fine dining if that’s your penchant, Savoyard specialties if you prefer to ‘eat local’ – or tell him your family favourites for his unique twist on the classics. Whoever selected the house wines clearly has a passion for wine, and one thing’s for sure; you’re heading to bed a very happy guest. 

On the last evening you remember you meant to go for that night-time swim; the night sky is alight with stars and you take a mental snapshot, another special holiday moment for the memory bank.
