Alaskan Hideaway

A fairy-tale location, a flutter away from access to one of the world’s most prestigious skiing domains. Your little hideaway on the edge of a forest, a frost sparkly stroll to one of the most enthusiastic party towns of the Alps. A quaint mountain hamlet that is an exclusive retreat for those in the know. You have it all at Chalet Inuit.

Petit Alaska is an enclave on the edge of Val d’Isere where traditional looking buildings belie their inner luxury. Here Chalet Inuit nestles in its charm. Inside, you will find a beautiful fusion of traditional craftmanship and modern comfort. It might be stylish beyond your best alpine dreams, but its accommodation is also planned so that families with children will enjoy its magic. One of the five bedrooms is a family suite with a double or twin bed and a delightful space for young snow pixies with bunk beds and an en suite shower room.

The rest of the bedrooms, all en suite, are spread out across four floors, an alpine castle in miniature. At the end of the ski day, there is plenty of room for boots, skis and snowboards in the storeroom on the entrance level where two of the party peel off to their bedroom with its double height windows and private balcony. Upstairs to the open plan living area and the family suite and then one more bedroom on the top floor where a picture window at the end of the bed pays homage to the glorious mountains that surround Petit Alaska.

In this living area, with its comfortable sofas by a glamourous log fire and its elegant round dining table, sumptuous meets subtle. The kitchen merges effortlessly into the décor and offers everything you need for independent chalet living. The design sings of the alps, you will be humming the tune to Edelweiss as the tranquil colour scheme and weathered timber calm your senses and an abundance of fluffy white sheepskin soothes all the worries of the outside world. They are well and truly left behind.

If, however, they were to linger a moment, they will soon be banished. Somehow, Inuit, with its discrete approach to luxury, hides another marvel. Come downstairs to a spa that is an enchanted cave, with a sauna, a relaxation area and a jacuzzi that is more than a hot tub. It is a large bubbling pool that will work a few spells. The final two bedrooms are on this level. They are tranquil spaces finished in old wood and a soft light colour palette, where free standing bathtubs harmoniously fit their space.

A complementary driver service makes the short drive to the ski lifts or the centre of town simplicity itself. You might also opt for one of the fabulous food delivery services on offer and diffuse the necessity to think of mundanities such as shopping. Your wish shall be granted, like the wave of a magic wand that truly understands the best of alpine living.
