Unexpected Sophistication

Don’t get us wrong we love traditional chalets with their chocolate box prettiness, gnarled ancient wooden beams and heart shaped carvings galore, but sometimes it is lovely to see something different.  Built on the edge of the pretty village of St Martin de Belleville, these two chalets are a refreshing and sophisticated surprise, built with clean lines and superbly decorated with a neutral palette and occasional splashes of colour.

The adjoining chalets are built from wood and local stone are deceptively simple from the outside. However inside you’ll find a minimalist design with simple, uncluttered lines, soft colours and great artwork throughout the building. Even the furniture is all unique designs with many pieces from local artisans. The chalets are spacious with big cathedral windows making the most of the views across the valley but these are not cold temples to Scandinavian simplicity but warm, comfortable and calm spaces to appreciate the beauty of the mountains and to enjoy a great holiday with family and friends.

The chalets are well equipped with everything from iPod docks, boot warmers, washing machine, BBQ and Nespresso coffee makers – all the comforts of home. There’s even a regular minibus service to take you to the slopes (and back!) but otherwise the space is yours to enjoy.

It is unusual to find such lovely properties available on a self-catering basis and given that the small village of St Martin and the surrounding ski area is awash with great restaurants (everything from 3* Michelin to delicious home-cooked local cuisine) this is the perfect choice for those on a ‘foodie quest’.  Breakfast at home, eat lunch on the mountain and then snack in the evening on local cheeses and charcuterie with a glass or two of red in front of the fire – perfect Or push the boat out and dine out in style – you can always just ski twice as hard tomorrow …

They say that a change is as good as a rest – a stay here gives you both.
