Perfect Le Praz

For many, Le Praz has it all. A traditional alpine village oozing with charm that happens to have access to world class skiing. Narrow streets wafted by the call of live music and the inviting aroma of vin chaud from cosy bars. A good sprinkling of restaurants from traditional and hearty to Michelin star refinement. And some beautiful accommodation of which Chalet Khoton could lay a claim to being amongst the best.

Chalet Khoton has the accoutrements of the super luxury chalet but it also offers flexibility. Breakfast will be prepared for you every morning and housekeeping will be daily. The rest of the time you have the magnificent 506sqm space to yourselves. Magic up dinner or call in a chef if you so wish. Perhaps it’s a day to relax with a bottle of red and an array of local cheeses after an indulgent lunch. It is located just 20m from the ski piste and a short walk into the centre of the village, although it does come with a shuttle service to ensure journeys to and from the slopes are seamless. It welcomes a large party of up to ten guests in five ensuite double bedrooms, two of which can be converted into twins.

The open plan living and dining space is on the upper floor, all light coloured timber and stylish neutrals setting off a stunning central wood burning fireplace. But the magnificence of the mountains is still the focal point, through large windows that reach towards the tips of vaulted ceilings. The kitchen blends harmoniously with the space, both well-equipped and sociable.

Down to the middle floor and you find the large master bedroom with its king-size bed, its own sofa area, a balcony and a bathroom with a walk-in shower as well as a bath tub. Two more bedrooms on this floor have double beds, shower rooms and balconies. Down again, and two more bedrooms have beds that can be set up as twins or doubles and shower rooms en-suite.

Then enter the dreamy world of the leisure area on the lower ground floor. Pool, sauna and Hammam. Whimsical showering and indulgent bathing. Luxuriation and relaxation. A fitness room and treatment rooms.

Because Chalet Khoton, like Le Praz, really does have it all. And that goes also for the skiing. For adventure seekers the terrain offers everything. Even though Courchevel Le Praz is a quieter gateway to the Trois Vallées than its neighbours, access to this vast playground is efficient. Then, there is a beginners’ area in the village itself and neophyte skiers quickly graduate to the sunny slopes up at Courchevel 1850. They can choose the bubble lift down while, for others, that home run will be all part of the fun. Intermediates to advanced might opt for the red Brigues/Amoureux pistes and, for those who want a challenge, there is the epic Eclipse - advanced skiers only.

And then you’re back, away from the frenzy of many resorts, in a traditional Alpine village. The music is playing at L’Elephant, a gorgeous chalet is waiting. This is Le Praz.
