Where Passion Meets Purpose: SkiBoutique & Snow Camp

Sometimes, the smallest opportunities can lead to the greatest adventures.

Every great journey starts somewhere.

For some, it's a faraway destination or a life-changing experience.

For SkiBoutique's founder Dan Frith, it all began on a dry ski slope in Sheffield.

At just 12 years old, Dan was given the opportunity to try skiing through a funded school initiative.

It wasn't in the French Alps or a glamorous mountain resort.

There were no snowy peaks, no luxury chalets or picture-perfect Alpine views. Just a dry slope, a pair of skis and the chance to discover something new.

What he couldn't have known at the time was just how much that opportunity would shape his future.

Dan fell in love with skiing. Although it would be another eleven years before he experienced skiing on real snow, that early introduction sparked a passion that would eventually take him to the mountains, lead him to work in the ski industry and inspire him to co-found SkiBoutique.

Sometimes, all it takes is someone giving you that first chance.

For Dan, skiing has always been about much more than the sport itself.

It's about the places it takes you, the people you meet, the friendships you make and the confidence that comes from discovering something you never imagined you could do.

That passion became part of the foundation of SkiBoutique, a business built around genuine destination knowledge, personal relationships and creating exceptional mountain holidays.

But there's another part of Dan's story that deserves to be shared.

Having experienced firsthand how one opportunity can change the direction of a young person's life, Dan recognised the importance of helping others discover those same possibilities.

And that's where Snow Camp comes in.

Snow Camp is an inspiring UK charity that uses skiing and snowboarding to create life-changing opportunities for young people who might otherwise never have the chance to experience snowsports.

Founded in 2003, the charity works with young people from underserved communities across the UK, helping them discover new experiences, build confidence and develop skills that reach far beyond the slopes.

But Snow Camp is about so much more than learning to ski.

Through its programmes, young people gain confidence, resilience, friendships and valuable life skills. They also have access to mental health and wellbeing support, recognised qualifications and opportunities that can lead to further training, apprenticeships and careers within the snowsports industry.

For many, it's their very first experience of skiing or snowboarding. For some, it becomes the beginning of an entirely new future.

And for Dan, that story feels particularly close to home.

There's something special about the connection between Dan's own beginnings and the work Snow Camp does today.

As 12-year-old boy from Sheffield, given the opportunity to try skiing, discovers a passion that goes on to shape his life.

Years later, having built a business around that very passion, he is able to help offer the next generation the same chance.

In 2022, Dan took his support for Snow Camp a step further, setting himself an extraordinary challenge: a 2,800km cycling journey along the Pacific Coast, from Vancouver in Canada towards Tijuana in Mexico, to raise money for the charity.

It was a challenge driven by a cause that meant something personal to him.

Today, through SkiBoutique's commitment to giving back, a percentage of every holiday booking is donated to Snow Camp, helping the charity continue its work with young people across the UK.

It's a small part of each booking, but together those contributions can help create something much bigger.

More opportunities. More confidence. More young people discovering what they're capable of.

And perhaps, somewhere along the way, another young person will discover a passion that changes their life, just as Dan did all those years ago.

At SkiBoutique, we've always believed that the best holidays are about more than simply reaching a destination. They're about experiences, connections and memories that stay with us long after we've returned home.

Supporting Snow Camp allows us to take that belief a little further.

Because while you're creating wonderful memories with your family and friends in the mountains, you're also helping to open doors for young people who might never have imagined those opportunities were possible.

Your holiday will not only create wonderful memories for your family, but will also help make a positive difference to the lives of young people across the UK.

Thank you for being part of it.
