In the beginning there were green pastures and mountain famers, shepherds and their little wooden huts. Then came the humble monastery and the farming became more sophisticated, organised. Slowly ‘tourists’ reached the unique glacial valley, and began to climb the peak of its most famed mountain; Mont Blanc. As the snow fell one year they strapped wood to their feet and so Alpine skiing was born in Chamonix. The wooden huts became wooden chalets, and the village became one of the Alps most popular and iconic winter destinations.
Set in her own private garden Chalet Sanaz is a spacious, stand alone, family ski chalet and just the perfect Chamonix base. As you sink into the comfortable beige sofas before the traditionally styled, roaring log fire, glass of champagne in hand, the children make their first snowman of the week in their garden. You can sit back and relax as they are easily in view from the windows and French doors which lead out to the patio and grounds.
The exterior of Chalet Sanaz is pretty, a traditional cream render, clad in bright pine above, surrounded by a snow covered garden and uninterrupted views out across the mountain ranges. This is an idyllic spot. The location gives you peace, tranquility and space for the children to play and explore. Yet you are very central, and just a three minute drive sees you in the centre of Chamonix town, exploring the boutiques and bars – taking the kids bowling perhaps, or to the ice rink.
For that extra bit of luxury, Chalet Sanaz can be booked with a catered service giving you a team of professionals to take care of every detail. Aside from the very talented chef – if you can bear to put him aside - a chalet host is there to see you want for nothing. They ensure the chalet is sparkling when you return from the slopes every day, so mum gets a proper break and Sanaz feels special to return to each day. Your chauffeur will expertly drive you across resort, giving you top ‘local’ tips to seek out the hidden treasures of the valley – and leaving you free to enjoy a glass or two of wine with lunch.
Relaxed by now you will be, but if you’ve tackled the challenging skiing of Chamonix with real intent your legs are bound to feel a little jaded, and in need of some TLC. Chalet Sanaz spoils you with a wonderful sunken hot tub; just persuade the kids to throw snowballs in the other side of the garden leaving you to relax in the therapeutic waters with a glass of fizz. Back inside the bedrooms are all generously sized and perfect to relax in if a moment of peace is required, and the master bedroom brings a touch of Alpine glamour in it’s bathroom, resplendent in wood cladding and bright spotlights you will find a whirlpool Jacuzzi all to yourself.
Downstairs the chef is cooking up a storm in the slick, professional kitchen. The kids will love perching on the bar stool at the breakfast bar, watching him create exciting dishes and taking home some top tips – maybe even the recipe for his legendry chocolate brownies. Dinners can be taken en famille – a chance to spend quality time together, laughing about dad’s near miss in the trees, and re-living Tommy’s first ever black run. If you prefer, some evenings let the chef do a special kid’s meal early on, and then treat you to a grown up, candle-lit dinner.
Flexibility is the key to making the most of a holiday at Chalet Sanaz, and you are firmly in control here. As a talented conductor leads the orchestra you direct proceedings and the chalet and wonderful staff will hum to your tune, culminating in a truly special and memorable luxury ski trip with your loved ones.

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you.
