We know that you deserve only the best and we reckon there is no finer gift for your big 40 than a rather magnificent brand new chalet. We would gift wrap it for you if we could but spanning four storeys, that sounds like an awful lot of paper.
As your friends in high places though, we don’t like to disappoint. So be reassured that as soon as the front door is opened, awaiting you will be the epitome of luxury and sophistication. Oh and of course we’ve instructed the team that your birthday bubbles are to be on ice.
We’ve all heard the words “completely renovated” before. It’s what you’ve been promised from your London townhouse for several months and we know you are rather over that term. With an extravagant overhaul and expansion, Chalet Les Étrennes affords the ultimate attention to detail and craftsmanship that ensures that the views from the south-west Savoleyres facing aspect has stiff competition. After all, we can’t have those jaw-dropping jagged peaks taking all the credit.
This birthday extravaganza has been in the diary for a long time and you knew that your trusted skiing crew wouldn’t let you down. Naturally the luxurious master bedroom has your and your husband’s names written all over it. You can’t help but eagerly run upstairs to survey your sanctuary for the week. A palate of creams and pale blues, complete with a large dressing room, ensuite bathroom and the pièce de résistance awaiting you on the large terrace. Push the French doors open to reveal the sunken outdoor hot tub. This is dangerous. You can already see the looks on your builders’ faces. Your master bedroom at home might just need one more re-jig to ensure you never have to feel you’ve left this Alpine serenity.
With five further bedrooms and the giddy excitable sound of adults in their element, you already know that this is going to be the ultimate mountain retreat. Maybe leaving the thirties won’t be quite so bad after all.
On the first floor you can hear that Sophie has discovered the hammam. You know just where your husbands can find you after another challenging day of alternating skiing with coffee and lunch. However, with mention of pre-dinner cocktails around the roaring fire, there are going to have to be some tough decisions made over the next seven days of extravagance.
Your luxurious mountain retreat just keeps on going but it is the third floor’s living area that has everyone stopped in their ski-socked tracks. The double height vaulted ceiling and huge windows make it a vast space bathed in Alpine rays. This is the type of room that everyone dreams of emulating in their own mountain retreat one day. Well, there is no harm fantasizing is there. However, for now it is time to kickback. Before you lose anyone intrigued by the cosy TV room and library and the mezzanine’s relaxation area, it is time for that celebratory sound. With champagne cork fired and canapés served on the terrace overlooking the snowy landscaped garden, you knew you could trust this particularly special favourite week to your friends in high places.

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? Full breakfast is served every morning. So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
When staying in a catered chalet every night feels like a special occasion, and why shouldn't it, you're on an amazing holiday and it's so good to be alive. You’re dressed and ready for a glass of something chilled with friends and family, ready to regale them with tales of your mountain adventures that may get a little exaggerated for dramatic effect with each rendition. Enjoy the delicious canapés and amuse-bouche freshly prepared by your star in the kitchen.
Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a melt in your mouth three course dinner that wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Dinner is complimented by a tangy platter of divine local cheeses. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your chef will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to fine dining delights. Dinner is served on 6 nights.
The chalet provides beer, house wines, a drinks tray of 3 bottles of house spirits and mixers. Champagne is served with canapés on 6 nights of your stay.
Children & dietary requirements
The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children (on 6 nights). You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
