High up in the open pasturelands above Lauenen you lower yourself into the sunken cedar hot tub. You gaze out across the decking to the snow covered fields beyond, the mountain peaks behind start to fade in the twilight. The smells and the sounds of the Swiss Alps cast an enchanted spell in the night air, and you feel a great sense of calm descend trance-like over you.
Champagne, Sir? Why not, start the vacation as you mean to go on. Welcome to Chalet Lottie, Gstaad, the most magnificent and serene of winter retreats.
From this reclined position in the hot tub your prized venue for this magnificent ski vacation is now lit up in sharp contrast to the dark night sky, casting herself in a whole new light. The subtle grandeur of this once traditional farmhouse is now revealed in all her glory; beams of light escape through the traditional wooden paneling that encases the enlarged windows of the grand formal sitting room under the eaves, revealing a modern twist to this former farmhouse, which dates to 1867.
Though cleverly maintained externally to resemble the building in her former role, the interiors are brand new, with all the modern fittings you might need, but packaged in a traditional and lavish Alpine style. The space has been meticulously designed with luxurious ski holidays in mind, so your every need is taken care of. From the covered parking to securely lock away your Bentley Continental GT (your pride and joy), to the ski room with heated boot warmers and the private gym – perfect for warming up your ski muscles and stretching them out at the end of the day.
While the Bentley is kept snug in the garage your private chauffeur is on hand to drive for you this week; a luxury 4 wheel drive minivan perfectly atuned to the conditions will take you and your friends to the slopes each day. Despite the appealing seclusion and privacy of Chalet Lottie’s position, you reach the slopes and centre of Gstaad in just 8 minutes. Here a picture-postcard scene awaits you, with the famous turrets of the Gstaad Palace hotel high on the hillside overlooking the manicured, rolling ski slopes.
Some retail therapy on the Promenade is a must, with its designer boutiques and famous art galleries. You might just ‘pop in’ to the Palace for cocktails too, or even for some late night drinks and dancing in the GreenGo nightclub; your chauffeur will wait discreetly to escort you back to Chalet Lottie once you’ve had your fill of the glitz and old school Swiss charm of Gstaad. For today, anyhow.
With so many beautiful rooms at Chalet Lottie you may well struggle to find inspiration to leave for the slopes; the master suite itself is hugely decadent with its separate dressing room and large feature bath tub perfectly positioned for fabulous views across the mountains. Breakfast is a divine feast, and can be served in the less formal dining area off the kitchen with its roaring log fire. The snug next door is great to retire to with a cup of coffee to digest and make plans for the day.
Should the weather not look favourable there’s the cinema room with its vast comfy day beds, and your chef can rustle up some popcorn. Alternatively pass some time in the sauna and take a massage; your highly trained chalet manager will arrange this for you, no trouble.
For food lovers and purveyors of fine wines you are in for a treat; the highly accomplished chef is at your disposal to create menus to suit your mood. You choose the direction, and he executes it with perfection. The wine list is provided by a renowned Verbier cave, and the choice is extensive, and in your hands.
Chalet Lottie and her team of highly trained professional staff exist to make your dreams come true; a totally bespoke and unique experience to treasure for a life time.

“An original farmhouse dating back to 1867, Lottie has bags of charm. Alongside original beams, panelling and stunning fireplaces, there's the seriously good extras (hot tub, sauna room, gym and cinema).”
“Chalet Lottie, Gstaad is a traditional Swiss farmhouse that has been souped up into a no-expenses-spared-Bond-style hideaway. But you can't expect kids to appreciate paintings by Old Masters or the artisanship that goes into producing hand-cut crystal champagne flutes. What will impress them, though, is that the butler can use his little black book to arrange an evening on a piste basher, a mechanical monster that reshapes the slopes every night of the ski season. After receiving instructions from the driver, the youngest (age 6) takes over the controls, shifting tons of snow with every scoop.”

Original wooden beams and paneling were used in the renovation of this 1867 farmhouse in Gstaad, Switzerland. The three-story chalet overlooks the Saanenland’s rolling meadows—which make for gentle ski slopes during the winter—and features seven bedrooms, a professional chef, and a chauffeur.
