The family has grown. The annual ski trip used to fit comfortably into an 8-bed chalet with room to spare, but now there are grandchildren to contend with! You are faced with the daunting prospect of finding a beautiful, yet affordable ski-in chalet to sleep at least 12 of you – more if the cousins want to come too.
The family ski trip is an institution though, a chance to wallow in the luxury of time with those nearest and dearest to you and it’s more important than ever now as your family grows. Drawing up at the doors of Chalet Sarire a smile spreads across your face and you know you wouldn’t miss this time for the world.
Sarire stands proudly at the foot of the slopes in Le Fornet, a little higher than the surrounding chalets, grander in stature. It is surely unique in its offering; how often will you find an affordable ski-in chalet with so much space at your disposal, in such a prime location in Val d’Isère, one of the world’s most famous ski resorts?
You’ve sacrificed nothing in style for this space, either. Beautifully restored Sarire sings out Savoyard with reclaimed wood, traditional stone and exposed beams. Yet there is a pleasing balance to the chalet’s interior, the walls adorned with modern art works, tasteful furniture inviting you to recline before the roaring log fire, sit back and relax with a glass of fizz while the grand children zoom around the chalet and fight over the bedrooms.
Sarire is both a glamorous, grown up chalet, and a family friendly space with diverse appeal, something to delight every member of the family. Le Fornet will delight too with its quick lift access to the upper slopes of the Glacier du Pissaillas and its tranquil setting. Not far from the action in the resort centre, its also home to the resort’s most famous Michelin starred restaurant L'Atelier D’Edmond, just a gentle stroll away for guests of Chalet Sarire.
This chalet is the perfect scene for many a happy family holiday or celebration; glorious evenings will be spent around the dinner table catching up over 3 indulgent courses prepared by your own private chef. A glass or two of wine hand selected for you from small, independent local vineyards. Delicious. All the while the grandchildren who have finally crashed are sleeping soundly above and you can truly switch off and change down gear; you’re on holiday.
Proximity to the slopes is the real winner here – you take it in turns to spend time on the mountain, and back at the chalet with the little ones. The peaceful seclusion of Le Fornet allows them to take their first steps on snow, to explore the winter wonderland on their doorstep, build a snowman and sledge down the hill next to the chalet. To pelt you with snow balls too, of course.
While some may choose to finish the day’s skiing in town for some legendry Val D’Isère après, grand pa and grand ma are on babysitting duty this afternoon. Tough gig; you distract the little ones with a film on the flat screen tv and immerse yourselves in the out-door hot tub. Relaxed, and assured that the parents will soon be scooped up by the chalet chauffeur and returned in time for children’s supper. You don’t want to supervise ‘bed time’ on your own after all.
The vote’s in; this is definitely the best family ski trip yet! Next year you vow to find more family and take the additional adjoining apartment. Perhaps you’ll invite the cousins.

Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
