This year it is time to up your ski game. The annual self-catered jaunt to your friend’s chalet in a valley far far away has run its course. This should be your favourite week of the year for a reason and we know that you deserve to be spoilt by one of Val D’Isere’s newest luxury chalets. Let’s step this annual ski trip forward and let’s welcome you to Chalet Papillon.
With such lavish space promised in such an enviable location, packing light has gone out of the window. You no longer need to play self-drive luggage jenga. You do feel a little sorry for the chauffeur and the dedicated team of staff but you are sure they are used to seeing a fair amount of luggage arriving. After all, Val D’Isere is one of those resorts you have longed to visit. Where you have longed to join the elite and if this week is going to get off on the right footing, then the elite most certainly can’t be seen in the same salopettes on consecutive days.
Your new snow boots are hastily discarded at the entrance as you sweep into the grandeur that is Chalet Papillon’s open plan living and dining room. Resplendent in vaulted ceiling dark wooden beams and modern Alpine luxury. You have spent many a day prior to arriving poring over the finer details. It still doesn’t make the choice of finding your master suite, soaking in the exceptional views beyond the floor to ceiling windows or marveling at the ground floor’s wellness area, any easier. However, with daylight creeping to dusk and canapés pushed back an hour, it sounds like the perfect excuse to acquaint yourself with a dip in the beautiful swimming pool. As you head downstairs and catch a glimpse of dusk and the twinkle of evening lights falling over Val D’Isere’s centre, you knew that these were going to be your favourite days for a reason.
You know that you don’t have to worry about the usual chaos of ensuring the master suite has your name on it. With staff this diligent, you know that your suitcases will be standing to attention when you return to your sumptuous master bedroom. Even the paraphernalia that follows Tilly and Harry around has all made it into the adjoining bunk room. With three further impeccably decorated en-suite double bedrooms, scattered throughout Chalet Papillon, everyone is afforded the space they desire.
It is almost as if Chalet Papillon knew that by reaching such surpreme levels of luxury, you would find it hard to ever tear yourself away. However, with such an enviable location, we promise that you won’t be parted from Chalet Papillon for long. Just metres from the bottom of the Bellevarde chairlift and close to the heart of Val D’Isere, reward the children with another successful day on the slopes with a trip to the highly addictive Patissier Chevallot. We know that you don’t like to call it bribery but a tear-free progression from green to blue slopes deserves a celebration. Yes, there is afternoon tea awaiting your arrival back from the cold but these are the days for indulgence like no other. The perfect excuse for your favourite family après hours.
As with any self-respecting luxury chalet in Val D’Isere, we know that there can be no scrimping on indulgence. Yes, you are in one of the resorts most enviable locations but you weren’t designed to carry skis and with a dedicated chauffeur service, why should you? It also means you get to return to Chalet Papillon just that little bit quicker.
You already know that there will be no going back to the old days. The bar has been set, as high as your favourite pistes in Val D’Isere’s vast ski terrain. You know this is going to be a long-term affinity and we already look forward to welcoming you back one snowy day soon.

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on.There is a daily continental breakfast and your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. Three evening meals can be pre-booked and your Scott Dunn chef will prepare Champagne and canapés followed by a tailored three course gourmet meal with paired wines. You will be free to sample local restaurants on the other evenings.
