Two families seek a loyal chalet for fun-filled mountain adventures with plenty of snow, good food and home comforts with a generous dose of luxury. Gorgeous Alpine views and log fires would be advantageous. Poky apartments and bunk beds need not apply. Serious candidates will be considered, but only if the price is right.
Chalet La Bouclia submits an impressive CV, and the references concur. This is the one for you; a match made in chalet heaven.
Finding a venue for your treasured annual ski trip is no mean feat, but in Chalet La Bouclia you have triumphantly balanced expectations of both grown up’s and little ones. Space to spread out, run around and play games, kick back, relax and be pampered. Stylish surroundings that don’t present a safety risk to little hands and feet.
Not to mention that it happens to sit in a small and peaceful hamlet above Val D’Isère, granting you fabulous days exploring the world famous Espace Killy ski domain, and without breaking the bank either. This is real, affordable luxury. The best decision of your year so far.
Three huge, arched windows and high-beamed ceilings add to the sense of space in the open plan living & dining room which provides the perfect space for the children to play under your mostly watchful eye, while you recline in front of that roaring log fire and take full advantage of your champagne reception. Contemporary seating and lighting raises the tone in the dining space where you enjoy a very grown-up dinner having tucked the children safely into bed downstairs.
The food is everything you had hoped for; home cooked family favourites were served up for the little ones before bed time, and are followed by a fine dining experience that exceeds all expectations, tailored to your preferences and cooked by your accomplished private chef in the open plan kitchen – so you even pick up some handy tips and recipes to try out at home.
The wine is excellent and free flowing, as is the conversation, which throughout the week involves ever-grander tales of your various exploits on the mountain. Watching the children take to the snow like ducks to water thanks to the expert instruction from Patrick – you were advised he is the best with children. The thrills and spills of the boys’ excursions off piste, and the excitement of après at La Folie Douce – the kids shrieking with laughter at everyone dancing on the tables, especially when dad joins in.
You explore the boutiques and bars of Val d’Isère at your leisure, with your chalet chauffeur awaiting your call to drive you back to La Bouclia, a mere 2 minute journey. He is on hand each morning too of course, to run the kids to ski school and return for any stragglers looking for just one more cup of coffee before the day starts for real.
Joy of joys, each ski day starts with toasty warm ski boots courtesy of your attentive chalet host, and the ski day can finish with a relaxing steam in the chalet’s hamam to ease those tired ski legs. For more serious therapy, take a massage in the comfort of La Bouclia, all arranged for you again. You really can sit back and relax here, no need to lift a finger, a real break and time out from every day life.
You take the little ones ice-skating one afternoon and they experience skating on a natural rink, outdoors and surrounded by the snowy peaks, followed by a warming hot chocolate. These are treasured moments they will remember for years to come – but you have also set the bar high, be warned.

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? On the chef's day-off a continental breakfast is provided. So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a melt in your mouth three course dinner that wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your chef will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to fine dining delights. Dinner is accompanied by carefully selected house wines and is served on 5 nights leaving you free to explore the local restaurants on two evenings.
The chalet provides house wines, X3 bottles of standard spirits and a selection of soft drinks & juices. There is a Champagne reception on one night of your stay. Wine upgrades are possible - payable locally.
The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children. You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
