You’re longing to reach those white fluffy slopes, but there’s one last day of work plus the packing to negotiate first. At least you know once you arrive you can sit back and relax, someone else will take care of all the small details. Work finished, suitcase packed and you’ve landed. Now you’re rounding the final bend before the road forks right to Tignes; the iconic Chevril Dam comes into sight, painted face of Hercules still visible from the 1992 Winter Olympics. The hot tub’s calling loudly now, you’re very nearly there.
As you draw up outside Chalet Ambre you are taken aback by the proportions of the property with its precise modern angles; combined with sister property, Chalet Opale, Ambre sits proudly on the mountainside, surely the envy of neighbouring homes. The pleasing design of the newly built chalet’s exterior is subtle, softened by aged wood and local stone, and sits harmoniously in its Alpine environment.
Inside does not disappoint either, slick design with a pleasingly Alpine colour palate; tones of wood, bright cream walls and furniture in warm greys and browns. You feel at once relaxed and at home in Ambre.
As you had expected your every need is being taken care of. Right now as you sit by the spectacular double fronted glass fireplace, fire roaring, sipping on a chilled glass of Champagne, your luggage is being quietly secreted in to your bedroom. Your skis and boots are on their way up the hill towards you, ready for your private in-chalet fitting. Your private ski instructor Jean-Luc is on his way to join you for afternoon tea and to discuss plans for the next two days. Bliss.
The ability to take a step back from every day life, to wallow in the luxury of time spent with those you love; these are gifts that Chalet Ambre will bestow in abundance, memories to treasure. The open plan living area and dining room gently nudges guests together, encourages conversation, and rewards with gorgeous views of the Torvière mountain.
Then there’s the hot tub, much talked about since you booked. Occupying an enviable position on one of the chalet’s many terraces the hot tub is the perfect tonic for tired ski legs after a big day on the mountain. It’s exactly what you’ve hungered for, the hot bubbles contrasting sharply with the glass of chilled bubbles that magically appears beside you each afternoon.
You’re a stone’s throw from the edge of the Almes piste, in fact in good snow you can ski right to the door! Should you wish to begin your day at one of the main lift stations instead that’s no trouble – your chalet chauffeur awaits your instruction, and your instructor will meet you wherever you choose. At the other end of the day he then chooses to introduce you to his favourite après ski bar in Val Claret. Some hours and several cocktails later your chauffeur re-appears at the perfect moment to collect you from ‘Grizzly’s’ and drives you back to the chalet door just in time for dinner.
The food, and dinner especially, is your favourite part of the holiday; you delight in being wined and dined, with no effort on your part besides letting the chef know your likes and dislikes, Tom’s favourite pudding and your penchant for fresh juices at breakfast. It’s so special to sit at the beautiful large dining table, the whole family buzzing from the day’s adventures on the slopes and enjoying free flowing conversation and delicious food together. It’s a struggle to leave the warm comforts of your chalet in fact, but you’re so close to the centre of resort it would seem a shame not to pop out for just one night to enjoy the live music at the Loop Bar. You resolve to go for ‘just one’ drink, and outside your chauffeur awaits in his distinctive Bavarian hat.

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
When staying in a catered chalet every night feels like a special occasion, and why shouldn't it, you're on an amazing holiday and it's so good to be alive. You’re dressed and ready for a glass of something chilled with friends and family, ready to regale them with tales of your mountain adventures that may get a little exaggerated for dramatic effect with each rendition.
Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a melt in your mouth three course dinner that wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Dinner is complimented by a tangy platter of divine local cheeses. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your chef will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to fine dining delights.
The chalet provides beer & a selection of house wines. They also offer a wine list for you to purchase wines of your choice if you prefer.
The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children. You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
