Overview

Crafted by artisans – made for individuals

You’ve chosen the perfect resort – a hidden gem in a fantastic ski area. You don’t follow the crowd but are happy to make first tracks, plough your own furrow. Not for you an identikit- ikea-inspired chalet – you like original, individual, crafted with a sense of place and history.

Chalet Ecurie is an old stable building that is over 130 years old in the hamlet of Villarabout that has been lovingly restored by local architect, Chris Raemers. This has been a labour of love evident in every original wooden ceiling beam, in the aged polish of the dining room sideboard and the small detail in every area of the building.

Everything from furniture to antique photo frames, from crockery to rugs and throws has been chosen with care and attention to detail in order to create a luxurious, warm and comfortable atmosphere. Soft, calming muted colour schemes, amazing views of the village and valley, the hypnotic effects of an open fire make this a wonderful relaxing place to stay.

All the rooms are generously sized with lovely en-suites bathrooms with baths and overhead showers. The large open plan kitchen, dining-living area is on the top floor and is the warm heart of the chalet. Ecurie is nestled right in the centre of the peaceful hamlet of Villarabout, just a four minute chauffeured drive from St Martin de Belleville and the main lift hub.

The chalet team is on hand to give you the best local advice for the day’s conditions and recommendations for your perfect lunch stop. You will be cared for by a team of talented and friendly staff from the time you arrive, until the end of your stay, ensuring that you’ll leave refreshed and reinvigorated; ready to face the world - and to plan your return trip.

Staying here is more than just a ski holiday – you get to experience a real taste of Savoie and to truly experience the stunning beauty of the mountains. The only problem is that one week won’t be long enough.

FROM THE PRESS

Nominee for World's Best New Ski Chalet 2016

World Ski Awards

What could be better than a 130-year-old stable converted into the snuggliest of chalets? Well, the fact it's hidden away in the most secretive of hamlets, a short drive from the charmingly unspoiled St Martin, but with quick access to the rest of the Trois Vallées. Nothing could be better.

WHAT OUR GUESTS THINK

"We stayed in the Ecurie for 7 days. When we arrive Helen welcomed us. The chalet was perfect! It was very cosy. Everything was arranged for you when you ask for something. The employees were very friendly and loveable. Thanks for your hospitality: Hannah, Brad, Hayden and Capri. We loved to stay with you and we will hope to come back next year."

Chalet Guest - December 2015

"Your very own boutique hotel... everything is top class, down to the tiniest details, lovely beds and bedlinen, great bathrooms, beautiful fabrics... lovely living and dinning area and top class gourmet food. Tables beautifully laid and lovely presentation of breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea. We cannot recommend this chalet highly enough."

Chalet Guest - season 2015/16

"This was our first visit to Chalet Ecurie, having stayed twice before in Chalet Abode. The experience was, as before, outstanding. This is a beautifully restored old building tucked away in the small hamlet of Villarabout, complemented by quite exceptional food and the superb service we have come to expect from all of Helen's staff. We should make a special mention of the drivers, who play a key part in making this such a wonderful location to stay. They are always available to help you make the the short trips to and from the main lift or town centre, but it's their friendliness and overall positive attitude which we really appreciate."

FROM THE PRESS

“For the past century a lowly stable stood in the village of Villarabout just outside the chocolate-box resort of St Martin. Now a renovation has transformed it into a beautiful retreat. The original beams and timbers remain, complemented by sophisticated furnishing. Once darkness falls, rest your weary limbs next to the fire in the open-plan living area, admiring the chalet's chef at work.”

BA - The Club 'The world's most spectacular ski chalets'

“Located in Meribel's quieter Trois Vallees neighbour, St Martin de Belleville, the Ecurie is a newly overhauled Savoie stable that dates back 130 years but is now equipped with double height ceiling, Hypnos beds and granite bathrooms. That's not to say that the original farmer's flourishes don't remain intact: cow bells, a milk churn and the mangers the animals grazed at are still visible.”

WHAT WE THINK

This is another wonderful chalet in our portfolio in St Martin - a beautiful renovation matched by wonderful food and great service. Rooms are a great size and the main living area has amazing views across the valley. Staying here is a world away from a holiday in the purpose built resorts - this is a true Savoyard experience with luxury thrown in.

Gastronome

Do you love food? I don't know many people that don't - there is something wonderfully comforting and indulgent about having somebody else take control of the kitchen. But when that person is a talented chef with hands-on experience of high end restaurants, you know you’re in for a mouth-watering treat. We hand-pick our chalet partners for their beautiful properties, stand out service and their dedication to gastronomy. Here’s a taste of what you can expect when staying in one of our catered ski chalets:

A perfect start to the day

No need to rush out of bed - an early morning tea can be brought to your room. Then on to breakfast - a healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.

High tea temptations

Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.

Celebrate with Canapés

When staying in a catered chalet every night feels like a special occasion, and why shouldn't it, you're on an amazing holiday and it's so good to be alive. You’re dressed and ready for a glass of something chilled with friends and family, ready to regale them with tales of your mountain adventures that may get a little exaggerated for dramatic effect with each rendition. Enjoy the delicious canapés and amuse-bouche freshly prepared by your star in the kitchen.

Serving up a sensuous feast

Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a melt in your mouth three course dinner that wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Dinner is complimented by a tangy platter of divine local cheeses. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your chef will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to fine dining delights. Dinner is accompanied by carefully paired wines and is served on six nights of your stay.

Let the good times flow

The chalet provides complimentary beer, house wines and soft drinks. There is a champagne reception on the evening of your arrival.

Children & dietary requirements

The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children. You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
