Yesterday you were swishing stylishly down the slopes of Val d’Isère, stopping for a glass of fizz and a spot of people watching at the Folie Douce. Today you’re lunching on fresh pasta, black truffles and Parmesan in Italy. Where will tomorrow take you? Tackling the famous off-piste itineraries of Ste Foy perhaps? Or skiing the epic 2000m descent from the Aguille Rouge in Les Arcs to the tiny hamlet of Villaroger.
It is a unique proposition; the ability to ski a different ski resort every day of the week expertly guided by your very own ski host. Not to be mistaken for an instructor – though these will be conveniently arranged for you should you have need – your ski host is your best friend on the slopes. Their sole purpose is to take you to the hidden treasures of each resort, reading the snow and weather conditions expertly to show you to the best pistes each day, ensuring you make the most of your stay in this special corner of the Alps. They’ll throw in a couple of epic mountain restaurants too of course, and a spot of après before returning you to Chalet du Rassel in your private chauffeur driven Volkswagen Caravelle, ready to unwind in the sauna or take a massage in the private massage room.
All this, with Chalet du Rassel as the superb setting to awake to each morning. Revel in the splendid isolation of this converted 19th century brewery sitting in 10 acres of its own farmland, with spectacular views of the surrounding towering mountains and their famous ski resorts. Chalet du Rassel was lovingly renovated at the expert hand of husband and wife team Ben & Heidi who live next door and are always on hand to ensure your every wish and desire is met. There truly is no other chalet quite like this; the décor is at once contemporary and warm, comforting and caressed with a subtly Alpine touch.
Where else could you feel so truly at one with the mountains around you? Free from the light pollution of the large ski towns you will remember endless skies of dazzling stars, nights spent nestled on the sofa by the roaring log fire, finally getting to grips with the latest Jonas Jonasson novel you haven’t had time to pick up since your birthday. Here time marches to your tune and you can each make the most of the opportunities that avail you. The up-market shops of Val D’Isère, the rustic wine bar in Ste Foy and the lively music at the foot of the La Rosière slopes. With so many choices the local knowledge of your hosts is truly invaluable; whatever you seek they will not merely point you towards it, but personally escort you.
The accomplished chef will prepare glorious evening meals; 4 courses inspired by the local and seasonal produce in a modern European style. Dinner culminates with a show-stopping cheeseboard, featuring local cheeses some of which may even have been produced from local cattle grazing the land surrounding the chalet. Du Rassel’s wines are chosen with as much care and taste as is evident in all other elements of this remarkable property, and can be perfectly matched by the chef to complement the menu du jour – or you are free to select your favourites from the Cave should you prefer.

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
When staying in a catered chalet every night feels like a special occasion, and why shouldn't it, you're on an amazing holiday and it's so good to be alive. You’re dressed and ready for a glass of something chilled with friends and family, ready to regale them with tales of your mountain adventures that may get a little exaggerated for dramatic effect with each rendition.
Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a melt in your mouth three course dinner that wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Dinner is complimented by a tangy platter of divine local cheeses. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your chef will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to fine dining delights.
The chalet provides beer & a selection of house wines. They also offer a wine list for you to purchase wines of your choice if you prefer.
The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children. You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
