Welcome to Ma Datcha, meaning my seasonal or year-round second home in Russian. Welcome to Ma Datcha, my home, my residence, my palace for my annual ski holiday in Megève.
Last year it was Pippa’s turn to book your annual ski trip, this year it is your responsibility. However, no need to worry about expectations of seasons past. You know that as soon as you sweep up the drive, the door is opened and your gaze is drawn to the elegant dinning room and contemporary sitting room of this beautiful private home, your job is done. Time to leave your new snow boots and down jacket at the door (early Christmas present to yourself?) and be the grateful receiver of a glass of something bubbly. Well, you might as well start as you mean to go. It will only by “Ma Datcha” for the week.
The kids have already squealed and shrieked past the harmonious blend of alpine features and luxurious fittings and are clambering for the top bunk in their lair for the week.
Wait! What is that that has caught your eye on the way to the sumptuous sofa that has your name on it? A wine cave! Let’s save that for tomorrow night, so we can awaken fresh for our first day of the fresh snow that is falling outside.
“Just one more pain au chocolat with nutella!” “Pleeease!” …the morning chorus has begun but why worry? You can indulge in as many pastries (with nutella or otherwise) as you desire because your dedicated driver is already discreetly loading your pre-warmed ski boots into your awaiting carriage. You may only be a short stroll to the quaint town centre and the Rochbrune gondola but let’s not be too energetic on the first morning.
The soul has been soothed after the first day of clicking back into your skis, so it’s time to soothe those weary legs. The children are out of their snowball soaked ski gear and settled into your private cinema room complete with hot chocolate…topped with marshmallows (ssh don’t tell mum!)
Thermals off, dressing gown on. A path has been cleared through the magical winter wonderland that is Ma Datcha’s garden. Time to slip into the outdoor hot tub or for those with energy left, the heated swimming pool awaits.
After the tiring commute between hot tub, sauna, hamman and massage room, you will have worked up an appetite. The kids will fall into bed after a busy day of lessons, snowball fights and snow angels. Now it’s your time. You’re dressed to impress, heading past the roaring fire to the grand dining area where the twinkle of a candle lit table awaits you. Settle into your chair, let the doors to the wine cave be opened and enjoy the feast that has been prepared for you.
One too many glasses of your favourite red? Time to make your way to your master double bedroom; spacious, grand and complete with private balcony. After all, you’ve earnt it, booking the best ski trip yet.

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
When staying in a catered chalet every night feels like a special occasion, and why shouldn't it, you're on an amazing holiday and it's so good to be alive. You’re dressed and ready for a glass of something chilled with friends and family, ready to regale them with tales of your mountain adventures that may get a little exaggerated for dramatic effect with each rendition. Enjoy the delicious canapés and amuse-bouche freshly prepared by your star in the kitchen.
Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a melt in your mouth three course dinner that wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Dinner is complimented by a tangy platter of divine local cheeses. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your chef will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to fine dining delights.
The chalet provides an open bar of beer, wines, spirits and mixers.
The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children. You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
Please note: Food & drinks costs are not included & are payable in resort
