If you take a rustic 17th century Savoyard farm building and creatively transform it into an icon of contemporary design, the result is Ferme de Moudon. The chocolate box exterior belies the chic interior of this minimalist masterpiece.
Set in its own grounds in a tiny hamlet, it is very private, yet a mere three minute chauffeured drive from the centre of Les Gets and the main lift hub. Uninterrupted views of the national park, pistes and powder fields give the feeling that all you survey is your own.
This is the type of luxury chalet that makes people take up their pens in absolute enjoyment and admiration. Kevin McCloud of Grand Designs Abroad described the interior of the chalet as "something from a James Bond set", while Victoria Mather summed it up as “beyond perfect".
The large open plan living space is instantly calming, blending ancient timbers above with carefully chosen contemporary furnishings below, with light flooding in from two vast picture windows. The dramatic Italian kitchen is state-of-the-art, demarcated by a chic dark wood bar where you can watch the chef cook up a storm.
The attention to detail is exceptional. Every piece of furniture is bespoke or adapted specifically for the house. Each of the five bedrooms are individually decorated, with the master suite taking up practically the entire upper floor. Each bedroom has the luxury of an en suite bathroom or power shower room.
Downstairs there is a sauna and a dedicated entertainment space with a plasma screen, pool table, massage room and bar area. Outside a hot-tub where you can relax with a glass of champagne while you enjoy the uninterrupted panoramic view of the snow-clad vista that stretches to the horizon.
Toys and games, sledges, books, DVD’s, videos and CD’s are provided to keep the young ones happy and entertained.

Kevin McCloud was wowed by interior designer Nicky Dobree's chalet, Ferme de Moudon, exclaiming that it was "like something from a James Bond set" when it featured on Grand Designs in 2004. The 17th-century Savoyard farmhouse set a new benchmark for chalet design with its rough timber pillars juxtaposed with sleek inset fireplaces, accented with earthy colours and cashmere throws.”
“La Ferme de Moudon is the iconic chalet that featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs Abroad in 2004. A traditional 17th-century Savoyard farmhouse from the outside, inside it is all sleek, contemporary design and flooded with light from two huge sheet glass windows that display breathtaking views of mountain wilderness. The chalet sits in its own private parkland, hence the knockout, uninterrupted scenery.”
“Just three minutes’ (chauffeured) drive from town lies Ferme de Moudon, one of France’s most desirable chalets. Nestled amongst the pine trees above Les Gets, the 17th-century farm building was transformed into the epitome of sophistication by London designer Nicky Dobree in 2004, expertly blending original timbers with modern furnishings and artwork and softening rustic antique furniture with tweed sofas and cashmere throws.”
