If it wasn’t for the small matter of your favourite sport, why would you ever need to venture outside of Chalet Igloo? From the origins of these primitive Canadian Arctic snow huts to your luxury bunker in the heart of Courchevel Le Praz, we have your favourite hours of your favourite days covered. Just promise us you won’t shout too loudly in excitement, as we can’t take responsibility for the envy that you will likely cause across The Pond.
The only similarity that we can find is that they are both temporary abodes (very sadly, in the case of Courchevel), used for several nights to enable you to conquer the snowy wilderness. That is about as far as we can take that comparison I’m afraid. You’ll be pleased to hear however that gone are the days of snow blocks and driftwood. Instead, at the end of that winding transfer to Les Trois Vallées, you will be greeted by a chalet resplendent in contemporary warm wooden tones and a serious dose of the wow factor.
With Chalet Igloo proudly boasting a lower spa floor, you know you have a lot to look forward to. Once upon a time these igloo expeditions were a hurried necessity, today you have the luxury of choice and time. Say goodbye to sub-artic temperatures and hello to long balmy hours where the hardest decision is whether to choose from the large swimming pool, hot tub or sauna. You are also feeling rather mighty as you know that your neighbours in Courchevel 1850 can’t say that their chalet comes with a squash court. Yes, you heard us right. Whiteout days can be a challenge in your family, with teenagers who can’t sit still for five minutes. However, Chalet Igloo’s very own squash court has the answer to burning off steam and that additional pain au chocolate that just accidentally landed on your plate at breakfast.
Sleeping eight people in an igloo would have historically been a rather cramped affair. At least that would have been one way to warm up on the Arctic tundra. Today though, everyone can enjoy their very own luxurious privacy with a choice of four exquisitely decorated ensuite bedrooms. The rabble of the Baker family can be contained on Chalet Igloo’s middle floor whilst you seek ultimate peace and tranquility in your master suite on the upper floor. Sheer bliss.
With the high speed Le Praz lift only a short walk from the chalet, your picture postcard Alpine setting doesn’t get much better than the offer of skiing home. Just let us know which week will be your favourite and we will get snow-dancing to ensure such enviable luxuries as stepping off your skis into your very own Igloo come true. When lunch on the terrace of Bel Air seems more like years than hours ago, sink into Chalet Igloo’s spacious and striking living room, disappear into the plump cushions and enjoy a serving of incredible views alongside that slice of cake. With not a cloud in the sky you might even be tempted to ask for your canapés and bubbles outside on the wrap-around balcony this evening.
These are your favourite days for a reason and for now, we will leave you to while away après in whatever fashion you so desire. You really do wish those magical hours were available every afternoon. With your husband and the children still out, we think that enjoying the peace and tranquility of Chalet Igloo sounds a very fine place to start.

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chalet cook will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful. Cooked breakfast is served on 6 mornings with a self-service continental breakfast on the staff day off.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
When staying in a catered chalet every night feels like a special occasion, and why shouldn't it, you're on an amazing holiday and it's so good to be alive. You’re dressed and ready for a glass of something chilled with friends and family, ready to regale them with tales of your mountain adventures that may get a little exaggerated for dramatic effect with each rendition. Enjoy the delicious canapés freshly prepared with a glass of something chilled and bubbly.
Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented cook. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a tasty home cooked dinner party-style meal. Dinner is complimented by a tangy platter of local cheeses. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your cook will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to more elegant delights. Dinner is served on 6 nights of your stay and unlimited wine is served through the meal, and you’ll finish with coffees and teas in the sitting room.
The chalet provides an honesty bar of beer, soft drinks and mixers. You are welcome to bring your own spirits and other drinks with you. A glass of Prosecco is served with canapes.
The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children. You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
