La Folie is a beautifully converted farmhouse situated in a great position just above the village and just a short stroll from Chatel. It’s possible to ski-in and the lifts are only a snowballs throw away, it won’t take you very long before you’re enjoying the fabulous skiing to be had here. La Folie is now arguably one of Chatel’s finest luxury ski chalets and a delightful addition to the accommodation available to rent in this charming ski resort.

La Folie was originally half of a traditional farm building in a former incarnation but now this spacious property has been lovingly restored by local craftsmen. Set out over four floors, the interiors utilise a forest of honey toned timbers, the reclaimed wood is a beautiful foil for the contemporary design elements that the designers have chosen, with some flair, it’s a perfect combination of rustic charm and modern styling.

In the open plan lounge there are comfy armchairs and a sumptuous sofa positioned around the open fire, an essential element for the ski chalet experience and the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine after a great day on the mountain. Doors lead out onto the covered balcony that allow you to take in the spectacular scenery of the village and mountains beyond. The beautifully hand-crafted dining table comfortably seats up to eight guests and has views towards the fire and the modern kitchen, which is fitted with a lovely wooden breakfast bar.

La Folie sleeps eight guests in four en suite bedrooms, which comprise of two doubles and one twin, in addition to a further cosy children’s room with bespoke wooden bunk beds, the children will adore this room, it will be their own private haven. All the bedrooms have flat screen TVs with HDMI cables to attach computers or iPads, and each room has its own individual WiFi. The beautiful en suite bathrooms feature large walk in showers, one has a deluxe deep bath.

All the bedrooms, with the exception of the bunk room, have south facing balconies overlooking the Mont de Grange mountain range. Upstairs, a mezzanine level provides a great space for children and teenage guests – complete with PlayStation and comfy leather armchairs.

La Folie benefits from a sauna, perfect for indulging the fatigue of aching ski legs before a delicious evening meal prepared by the talented chef. The attentive, unobtrusive staff will make sure you never have to lift a finger, your only worry will be to get the most out of your time in this fabulous winter wonderland.
