Domaine de Toit du Monde is combination of two exquisite chalets created from an old monastery dating from the 17th century. Domaine de Toit du Monde is an idyllic hideaway located in ski heaven. An old soul, developed sensitively into one of the most luxurious modern chalets imaginable. Positioned on the piste, Toit du Monde is a landmark building in the hameau of La Daille in Val d'Isére.
Mountain chic, in reference to the Himalayas rather than the Alps, no expense has been spared in furnishing this opulent home. The chalet is awash with imported Tibetan chests and giant carved wood doors, handmade rustic railings from the Mongolian Steppes, and vast slabs of carved marble. It feels extraordinarily lavish and indulgent and a perfect hideaway unlike no other in the mountains.
Domaine de Toit du Monde is located in La Daille, the least salubrious part of Val d’Isère. There is a chauffeured 4x4 laid on from 8.30am to 11pm every day to take guests wherever they desire. Also, crucially, the chalet is genuinely ski-in ski-out for skiers of all levels, with an easy green on one side and a World Cup downhill slope on the other.
Domaine de Toit du Monde is full of original features dating back to bygone eras. The huge stone fireplaces and the stunning stone window seats (where monks would have sat and read till daylight faded) are balanced in harmony with modern ornamental features and state of the art facilities. There are the movie screens which appear at the touch of a button, the invisible swimming pools which can pop up between the dining areas and the cigar room and the outdoor terraces where guests can relax after sampling the delights prepared by the talented chef. Domaine de Toit du Monde boasts two saunas, two massage rooms, two wine cellers, and two extraordinary swimming pools with electronically adjusted sinking marble floors that can be dropped to create a pool or just a shallow Jacuzzi area.
All bedroom suites have separate sleeping and relaxation areas. The marble walls of the bath are adorned with delicately engraved snowflakes, while the floor of each bath is subtly heated. The bath is of impressive proportions, each commands a rain shower and converts into a steam room, easily seating up to 4 or more, with remote-controlled lights.

"Thank you for an amazing week. This is our 4th time at Himalaya/Toit du Monde and the holidays get better every year. It is lovely to see familiar faces year after year. Chrissi has made sure that our muscles didn’t ache so much the next day, Paul and Andy have spoilt us with their exquisite cooking. Freyja, Stefano and Chris and Collette exceeded our expectations. Thank you for everything."
"A Jaw–opening experience from the second we arrived! What a beautiful serene place this is, we‘ve never experienced anything like it. We’ve been received like Kings, I felt like a princess for a week. Everybody, without exception, has been so kind, always willing to help. You all made our week, couldn’t be the same without your lovely energy, talents, humour and smiles."
"To all the people at Chalet Himalaya who worked so incredibly hard all week to look after us and give us such a great holiday. Thank you! We couldn’t have asked for more - every last whim was taken care of and then some. Not sure how you also managed to arrange the snow but that was fantastic too. I am sure we will be back!"
“Sophisticated Chill: Owned by Pamela Nicholson, the music TV-producing, professional piano-player and mother of rock violinist Vanessa Mae, Chalet Himalaya has everything needed for a relaxing evening in – from bespoke food with flowing house champagne of Perrier Jouet to a cigar room and massive cinema screen… oh and heated loo seats throughout."
“This exquisite chalet, created from an old monastery, is protected by fortress- like stone walls, offering seclusion and exclusivity to the guests. The swimming pool, complete with jet stream and corner Jacuzzi jets, is simply incredible, and allows guests to swim both inside and out. The outdoor pool area is surrounded by a beautiful terrace for sunbathing when the weather gets warmer towards the end of the season. Enjoy the swim and the views!”

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
When staying in a catered chalet every night feels like a special occasion, and why shouldn't it, you're on an amazing holiday and it's so good to be alive. You’re dressed and ready for a glass of something chilled with friends and family, ready to regale them with tales of your mountain adventures that may get a little exaggerated for dramatic effect with each rendition. Enjoy the delicious canapés and amuse-bouche freshly prepared by your star in the kitchen.
Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a melt in your mouth three course dinner that wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Dinner is complimented by a tangy platter of divine local cheeses. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your chef will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to fine dining delights. Dinner is accompanied by carefully paired wines and is served on six nights of your stay.
The chalet provides an open bar of beer, wines, house spirits and mixers. Champagne is served with canapés on six evenings. There is also a House Cocktail Menu.
The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children. You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
Please note : By arrangement with 2-Michelin starred chef Benot Vidal, we offer guests the option of substituting dinner on any one of the 6 evenings with Lunch at L’Atelier d’Edmond to sample the Menu Saveur with a champagne aperitif (no other drinks included in this option).
