Cocooned inside your cosy and contemporary ski bolt-hole looking out across the roof tops you might well feel on top of the world in Villarabout. Looks can be deceiving as you are really sitting inside a one hundred year old alpine village house; your own little slice of French history. The transformation from sturdy village house into beautiful, cosy ski chalet with designer looks and all the comforts of home is surely the definition of a labour of love.
Chalet Abode is the loving creation of husband and wife team Helen and Chris; and the advantage of having an architect in the family is evident all around you here. Chalet Abode is at once a beautiful building, and a practical, cosy ski chalet completely designed for purpose. As you draw up outside and soak in your surroundings a feeling of calm serenity descends upon you; you’ve arrived at your own private Alpine sanctuary.
The slightly austere, grey stone exterior gives little hint of the comfort and warmth that you’ll find within. The chalet is nestled right in the centre of the peaceful hamlet of Villarabout, just a four minute chauffeured drive from St Martin de Belleville and the main lift hub. Stepping out onto your balcony you experience some of the most charming views imaginable; rustic Savoyard roof tops with a backdrop of the stunning crinkled white mountains of the Belleville valley.
Inside the stone, wood and white walls are deceptively simple and understated allowing the lovely furniture and luxury fittings to speak for themselves. This is a wonderful ski hideaway where the luxuriously comfortable beds and the inviting sofas with beautiful throws, allow you to truly relax and recharge your batteries.
The warmth of the chalet is only out-done by the warmth of the welcome you receive. Your personal chef serves up delicious meals using fresh, local produce and your chalet host ensures your glass is full and serves an almost constant supply of tasty treats. Your driver is ever on-hand to take you to the lifts, the resort centre or to the small, yet delightful selection of shops, bars and restaurants in St Martin village. You don’t have to worry about a thing, and that’s the real holiday here.
Chalet Abode allows you to enjoy the awe-inspiring mountains and each other’s company, away from the noise and glitz of the bigger resorts, but with some of the world’s best skiing right on your doorstep. Handily placed in the centre of Les Trois Vallées you waste no time exploring the far-reaching corners of this vast ski domain.
Helen is on hand to give you the best local advice for the day’s conditions and you will treasure memories of days spent sashaying Courchevel’s manicured pistes with long lunches on the sundeck at the Bel Air restaurant. Salads just don’t taste this good back at home. A leisurely day closer to home can’t be beaten though; cruising the runs between St Martin and Les Menuires and enjoying rustic Savoyard dishes at Le Montagnard, St Martin’s best kept culinary secret. Round off the day with a cocktail or two at the quirky Pourquoi Pas Piano bar for Après with some live music; this beautiful and unique ski village will stake a claim to a special place in your heart.
You will be cared for by a team of talented and friendly staff from the time you arrive, until the end of your stay, ensuring that you’ll leave refreshed and reinvigorated; ready to face the world - and to plan your return trip. You arrived as guests but at Chalet Abode you will certainly leave as friends.

"Gorgeous chalet in the fantastic St Martin De Belleville, staff very friendly and helpful, chalet very clean, food excellent. Thought lift to slopes would be a problem as always pick ski-in /out chalets but actually found it more convenient especially when my skis were carried to lift."
"Chalet Abode has all the comforts you could wish for on a ski break. We were extremely well looked after - pampered and spoilt - as one should be on a ski holiday. The chalet is spotless, modern but manages to hold onto its old-world charm. Helen was extremely efficient in organising our visit. Our private chauffeur was a true gentleman and extremely helpful, providing an door to slopes service each morning. The food was amazing, easily the best I have had the pleasure to enjoy in a ski chalet - worth a Michelin star or two. If you like good food - you will not be disappointed."
"Our second visit, and delighted to report that this is still one of the best ski chalet holidays you can find. Different chef and chalet host from last time, but still the same superb food and service excellence, which I think shows how committed Helen, the company owner, is to providing such a great experience for her guests. A special mention for the drivers, too, who make such a difference to the experience: nothing is too much trouble for them."
“The boutique-style Chalet Abode – beautifully converted from an old Savoyard farmhouse – is four minutes' drive from the village of St Martin de Belleville (a driver is included in the cost). The chef gets in touch with guests before they arrive to discuss menus, which can then be tailored to taste, flexibility being key and with low-carb or even super-healthy macrobiotic among the options”

No need to rush out of bed - an early morning tea can be brought to your room. Then on to breakfast - a healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
When staying in a catered chalet every night feels like a special occasion, and why shouldn't it, you're on an amazing holiday and it's so good to be alive. You’re dressed and ready for a glass of something chilled with friends and family, ready to regale them with tales of your mountain adventures that may get a little exaggerated for dramatic effect with each rendition. Enjoy the delicious canapés and amuse-bouche freshly prepared by your star in the kitchen.
Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a melt in your mouth three course dinner that wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Dinner is complimented by a tangy platter of divine local cheeses. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your chef will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to fine dining delights. Dinner is accompanied by carefully paired wines and is served on six nights of your stay.
The chalet provides complimentary beer, house wines and soft drinks. There is a champagne reception on the evening of your arrival.
The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children. You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
