You’ve done it. You step onto that runway like you own it. This is your gateway to your ultimate playground for the next week. Down collar ruffled up to keep the chill of Courchevel 1850’s Altiport away. There are now just minutes, eleven of them to be precise, between you and your forever, Chalet Les Bastidons.
Your chauffeur and the dedicated team of staff are used to seeing a fair amount of luggage arriving. After all, you can’t be seen in the same salopettes on consecutive days. However, little do they know that this sheer volume of luggage is you preparing to move in. Permanently.
Your new snow boots are hastily discarded at the entrance as you sweep into the grandeur that is Chalet Les Bastidons. You have spent many a day prior to arriving poring over the finer details. It still doesn’t make the choice of finding your master suite, soaking in the views beyond the decadent living room curtains or marveling at that wellness suite, any easier. However, with daylight creeping to dusk and canapés pushed back an hour, it sounds like the perfect excuse to acquaint yourself with the stunning outdoor jacuzzi. With the twinkle of candlelight in suitable company of champagne, these are your favourite days for a reason.
You know that you don’t have to worry about the usual chaos of ensuring the master suite has your name on it. With staff this diligent, you know that your suitcases will be standing to attention when you return to the first floor’s sumptuous master bedroom. One of six impeccably decorated bedrooms, spread over several vast floors, everyone is afforded the space they desire. Although you might find yourself standing in the elevator wondering which floor Harriet is on. It does amaze you how the chalet staff just know which room belongs to whom.
Although that does slightly ruin your plan of moving in and staying forever. You were pretty sure that between Chalet Les Bastidons’ hidden games room, the whole floor dedicated to the wellness suite and such vast bedrooms, you were going to get away with it. After all, Chalet Les Bastidons does not make going skiing easy. Yes, logistically you are a mere twenty five metres from the ski lifts and you have the envy of being on the Plantret ski slope. However, when Chalet Les Bastidons was being designed as one of the most prestigious chalets in Courchevel 1850’s Chenus area, there was a slight flaw. That flaw being the hardship of guests ever being able to tear themselves away from the extraordinarily luxurious details and features that you very quickly became accustomed to.
The third and fourth floors are where a hedonist’s paradise unveils itself. How many chalets do you know of that have a secret games room all in the pursuit of unadulterated fun? Push the wall aside to reveal Chalet Les Bastidons’ playroom and games room. Complete with a library, snooker table and piano, let us declare that this is not all. How about a jaunt to the spacious home cinema? We won’t judge you for not making it to the end of that film, we know just how decadent those sofa seats are. We also fully agree that there needs to be a custodian of all the magnums and jeroboams in the wine cellar. Surely this alone is enough of a highly respected role to enable you to stay forever?
Also, as with any self-respecting chalet in Courchevel 1850, there can be no scrimping on the status of a wellness suite. You know that you can be reassured that Chalet Les Bastidons is no exception. With an enviable swimming pool, indoor jacuzzi, massage room, fitness room, sauna, hammam and a bar, we don’t blame you for forgetting that you were originally here to ski your beloved Les Trois Vallées. Even après can’t be used as the excuse to leave these stunning walls as you stride from the jacuzzi and pull up a bar stool to survey your kingdom. The champagne will be on ice waiting for you.
With space opulently appointed and combined with beautifully enticing furnishings and that liberal dose of Alpine charm, you know this is going to be a long-term affinity. This might actually be the first time you feel envy towards those non-skiers in your party.
We really do sympathise with your struggle at the thought of having to return to reality one day.

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
When staying in a catered chalet every night feels like a special occasion, and why shouldn't it, you're on an amazing holiday and it's so good to be alive.
