The view from a favourite ski chalet makes memories that never melt. Imagine! You have just arrived at Chalet Goldilocks, just above the bustling town of Morzine. You have immediately taken the lift to the top floor and you venture out on to the wooden balcony. You face south, you can see late afternoon skiers on their last run down Pleney, the rocky peaks above and the forest clad slopes below. The cold dry air wakes up your senses, that view is wide open and beckons you towards tomorrow and getting on that gondola. You made it!
Although, to be fair, you have chosen Morzine and the journey from Geneva is hardly strenuous. And you have chosen Goldilocks, which can reasonably boast some of the best views in Morzine.
Now, views like this in Morzine would often come at the price of distance from ski lifts and a slog into town. Not so at Goldilocks. This private residence was built on an enviable plot only ten minutes from the Super Morzine lift, although with a driving service you don’t have to worry about such things.
The main living area of this chalet in the woods occupies that top floor. The rooms behind you are flooded with light. They are open plan but delightfully separated by a split level between the stylishly colourful kitchen/dining room and the lounge where you are greeted by a haven of tranquillity. It is a mellow space, all soft chairs and fluffy cushions with cleverly integrated splashes of colour and creativity.
There are four en-suite double bedrooms on the second floor, all dedicated to rest and recuperation with gentle colours and solid timbers. Descending further, you find another large bedroom with two elevated beds that make bunks. It could be fun family accommodation or a great place to which to banish a group of noisy children and make them very happy indeed. They have their own bathroom.
Chalet Goldilocks has a wonderful kitchen making meal preparation a joy – although after a big lunch on the mountain, you may not need to rustle up more than a few snacks ! And anyway, it is the perfect opportunity to sample the very fine restaurants of Morzine, where you will find anything you want from fine dining to fast food. You’ll also find some great delis making it easy to serve a plate of fine charcuterie and cheeses with delicious local wines or maybe a raclette evening. Don’t forget the goodies and wine in your welcome hamper ….. the possibilities are endless!
This is a hallowed spot where nature and luxury meet and create a bit of magic. If you love the outdoors, you will find a little paradise in the garden as you gather round the blazing fire-pit, darkness closing in through the trees. There is a hot tub close by and a barrel sauna just over there. Watch the stars for a while and let the mountains make their magic.
