Where do you start with a chalet like Eugenia, probably the most stately and luxurious chalet in the whole of the Alps. This chalet has a fascinating history and has been in the ownership of Baron’s and Earls from it’s conception just after World War II. The list of past guests is pretty impressive to say the least and includes a smattering of British Royalty, such is the allure and elegance of this wonderful property.
Chalet Eugenia is set in its own grounds, is private and exclusive as you would expect and is also ski-in ski-out, with a Heidi Lift for the children, a unique feature, so you can watch them ski from the many terraces and balconies that Eugenie boasts. Klosters is a short chauffeured drive away should you ever be tempted to want to actually leave the confines of this stunning property.
Given the past guest list, the interiors are pretty much as you would expect, elegant, spacious, grand and most definitely luxurious. The main drawing room with its central fireplace is the focus of the chalet which also boasts an elegant dining room and panelled study.
Chalet Eugenia sleeps twelve guests in six en suite bedrooms set out over four floors, the bedrooms are sumptuously comfortable and most rooms have access to their own balconies affording spectacular southerly views of the majestic Gotschna. There are two further bedrooms sleeping up to three additional guests, perfect for children.
Chalet Eugenia may be redolent of a bygone era but it has kept up to date with current entertainment technology and is well equipped with all that you could wish for during your stay here, along with a good selection of books, toys and games for the children. Pianists will appreciate the grand piano and maybe the extensive wine cellar too, a glass or three never hurt a rendition of a Beethoven sonata, or Knees Up Mother Brown, depending on your level of ability and intake of alcohol.
The service you can expect to receive here is second to none, nothing will be too much trouble for the discreet and unobtrusive staff. The meals prepared by the professional chef are exquisite and you will be provided with a hearty breakfast to set you up for a day on the mountain. You will have the services of a chauffeur at you beck and call to ferry you back and forth and a host/hostess to keep things ship shape.
The wellness facilities more than match the quality of the accommodation and are a new addition that were added by the new owners in readiness for the 2014/15 ski season. The spa facilities are state-of -the-art and a wonderful place to wallow in sensuous pleasure after or even before your exciting day on the slopes.

“If you are looking for the ultimate in wraparound luxury and the best ski experience that money can buy, then this is it. This magnificent chalet, built by Baroness Thyssen-Bornemisza, is everything a chalet should be: charming panelled rooms, creaking oak floors and exquisitely furnished with traditional local pieces and family heirlooms. The centrepiece is the delicious drawing room, which has a grand piano and glorious views over the valley and mountains. There are six elegant yet cosy bedrooms, the master suite takes up the entire top floor and has log fires in the bedroom and bathroom. Jo Malone bath products, flowers and an early morning “tea tray” are very indulgent.”
“You can’t really call Eugenia a chalet – it’s more of a mountain-based manor house. Built after World War II by Baroness Thyssen-Bornemisza, it has its own extensive grounds, down a secluded driveway guarded by stone lions. In recent years, Eugenia has been completely reworked. The huge drawing room is at the heart of the chalet, with its central fireplace, enveloping sofas and polished oak floorboards. But the magnum opus is a gargantuan master suite, with four balconies and a dressing room.”
“Finding it hard to persuade your Aunt Josephine to join in with this year's family ski trip? She'll probably LOVE Chalet Eugenia because it's not that different from her sprawling country pile. There's mismatched furniture, tables to play Bridge on and a piano for 'Chopsticks'. 'In-resort transportation' is also included which means a Bentley on hand to whisk you to the après-ski.”

No need to rush out of bed - breakfast is laid on. A healthy array of fresh fruit juices, a selection of warming teas and coffee - yoghurts, crispy cereals, juicy fruit and a mouth-watering display of delicious fresh breads & delicate pastries. Your chef will also prepare a daily cooked hot option for you - how do you like your eggs? So much choice that you might miss the first ski lift if you're not careful.
Come back after a wonderful day on the mountain to the warmth and comfort of your chalet. Snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fire, with a steaming cup of tea and a generous serving of cake – this is how all afternoons should be. Your chef will prepare a fresh from the oven, sweet treat for your return, so whether your preference is for a hearty sticky Apple and Ginger cake or a delicate Mille-feuille aux framboise is more your thing, there will be something tempting waiting for you. Personally I don’t think you can beat a slice of crispy baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of apricot jam or nutella - but maybe that ‘s just me - the perfect comfort food.
When staying in a catered chalet every night feels like a special occasion, and why shouldn't it, you're on an amazing holiday and it's so good to be alive. You’re dressed and ready for a glass of something chilled with friends and family, ready to regale them with tales of your mountain adventures that may get a little exaggerated for dramatic effect with each rendition. Enjoy the delicious canapés and amuse-bouche freshly prepared by your star in the kitchen.
Take a seat at your own private table - it's time for the main event – a delicious feast, masterfully crafted by your talented chef. With an emphasis on using hand-selected, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients you will be served a melt in your mouth three course dinner that wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Dinner is complimented by a tangy platter of divine local cheeses. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and your chef will be happy to prepare everything from a simple supper to fine dining delights.
The chalet provides beer, wines, spirits and mixers. There is a Champagne Reception on your day of arrival.
The chalet is happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will serve an earlier high tea for children. You can talk to your SkiBoutique PA about any specific requests from dietary requirements such as gluten free diets to birthday cakes and favourite dishes. We will do our very best to ensure that your wishes are granted and delivered in resort.
